BIR is one of Norway’s largest waste management companies, responsible for handling waste for more than 360,000 residents across its nine owner municipalities. In 2018, BIR received the International Infrastructure Project of the Year Award for its pneumatic waste collection system — the “bossnett.”
Reknes AS has developed the solution that enables the commercial sector to use this system.
BIR Nett
In downtown Bergen, BIR has built a pneumatic underground waste collection network, transporting household waste through underground pipes using air pressure. The system contributes to a cleaner, safer, and more pleasant city center — reducing traffic, fire risk, and operational complexity.
Reknes developed the solution that allows businesses to connect and utilize the bossnett infrastructure.
BIR Avfallsenergi
BIR Avfallsenergi produces environmentally friendly heat and electricity for the residents of Bergen through energy recovery from waste.
Our industry-specific system supports their operations and enables seamless data exchange with BIR Nett’s pneumatic waste solution.
BIR Privat
In collaboration with BIR Privat, Reknes developed in 2012 a user-friendly client system for receiving waste — now in use across all 11 BIR recycling stations.
Other parts of our solution are also applied for hazardous waste handling, downstream deliveries, and invoicing, providing a complete and integrated workflow.
